A resort town in the south-west of New Zealand’s South Island. It has an urban population of 15,450.
The town is built around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu, a long, thin, Z-shaped lake formed by glacial processes, and has views of nearby mountains such as The Remarkables.
The region’s four ski areas are all within a 20 to 90 minute drive. Coronet Peak (18 km) and The Remarkables (28 km) are closest to Queenstown.
Around Queenstown – more than 70% of the grapes grown here are pinot noir. Other varieties include chardonnay, pinot gris, riesling and sauvignon blanc.
A city in Queensland, Australia, on the tropical NE coast of Far North Queensland. Cairns is a popular tourist destination because of its tropical climate and access to tropical rain forest and the Great Barrier Reef, on of the seven natural wonders of the world.
